Skill fit is the score. Distance decides who appears and breaks ties, not how they score.

We collect what's needed to match you well, and nothing else. Discoverable-off in one tap. Precise location is optional. Your data leaves with you, aside from a short list of things that are someone else's record too.

Discoverability and analytics are off until you allow them. Precise location is off by default for accounts created from this release onward; accounts created earlier may already have it on and can turn it off in Settings.

Privacy by architecture

Piaar doesn't ingest public profiles and doesn't sell skills data. Organizers get aggregate outcomes for their own event, never a list of what individuals searched or viewed elsewhere. The platform answers to you.

Is Piaar free?

Free for individuals during beta, including up to 15 events (50 attendees each) and 10 articles. We're still figuring out long-term pricing. When that changes, current users will be told months in advance, with grandfather pricing on the table. Larger events use an organizer plan, billed to the business.

How is this different from LinkedIn?

LinkedIn shows you who's already in your orbit. Piaar shows you people whose offered skills match what you’re looking for, within your city. It's a different problem and a different shape of network.

How does the matching actually work?

Piaar understands skills by meaning, not keywords — "machine learning" and "neural networks" count as neighbors. Your score with someone reflects how well their offered skills cover what you're looking for, and skill fit is the only thing that drives it. Distance is a filter that decides who appears, never part of the score. The exact formula is proprietary, but we can explain any specific score to you on request — full transparency is a commitment we hold ourselves to, in the spirit of the EU AI Act.

Where is my data stored?

Firebase. Our database and matching service run in EU regions; a few underlying Google services we depend on, like push notifications, run on Google's global infrastructure rather than an EU-pinned one. We retain only what's needed for matching, and deleting your account removes your profile from search and matches immediately.

Can I hide from specific people?

Yes. You can block anyone from their profile or a chat — blocking hides you both from each other everywhere (search, map, matches) and deactivates any conversation between you. The other person is never told. You can also report a user to us directly from the app. And if you want out of discovery entirely, you can go fully non-discoverable in one tap. Either way, what others see on your public profile is always a rounded grid square — about 200 m if you're discoverable with Precise location on, about 1 km otherwise — never your exact position.

Is the app on iOS and Android?

Both. Piaar is built in Flutter, so the same app ships to each. Android is live on Google Play and iOS is live on the App Store — version 1.5.1, free, for iPhone running iOS 17 or later (it also runs on iPad in iPhone-compatibility mode). Web is on the roadmap but not yet live.
